What is the best Digital camera? What is the differance between 8mm, MiniDV, no tape, dvd? Help please!?

I need a camera you can put my videos on computer.I know nothing about Digital Camcorders.I have a mini camcorder cassette tape, it's time for an upgrade.

The easiest way would be to get a camcorder with a hard disk. No need to worry about tapes, and all you have to do is connect the camcorder to computer via a Firewire cable. You may want to check if the cable comes with the camcorder because they all do. Of course, this way is also the most expensive. Just makes 8MM, VHS-C, Hi-8 or more, so do not even consider those. That leaves you with mini-DV, DVD and mini hard disk. Mini-DV tapes are small is written. Are quality digital, so you can download to your PC, but is limited by the length of the tape, which is usually about 60-90 minutes in best quality. Mini-DVD is exactly what sounds. This is a mini-DVD that you can fall into the DVD …. in theory. There compatibily issues with some DVD players, and not always recorded as mini-dv. Also, no are reusable. Once you record on them, you are done. You would have to get DVD-RAM or DVD-RW to use again and again. But to play on a player DVD has to finalize the disc. Once this is done, can not be reused. Go with the hard drive camcorders. They are more expensive but are easier to use, and you not have to worry about the tapes. And there are some DVD recorders do not need a portable computer, it would be able to burn DVDs anywhere.
