How I can lengthen the shutter speed on my Camera and keep the light of it?
When I try to take photos during the day with a slower shutter speed, the picture goes completely blank. But I have seen many pictures I have used a shutter speed of light has been lengthened completely normal day. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks x
With any light source since there are three components of the exhibition: 1) ISO 2) Opening 3) Shutter speed The three must work in balance to produce a correct exposure. If we set the ISO and not changed it, then we have two variables control. If a change, then the other must change. We can refer to the old "Sunny article 16 which states that" a sunny day, set your f-stop to 16 and the shutter speed to 1/ISO. "So on a sunny day with ISO 100 that can shoot at f16 and sec 1 / 100. And expect good results. The following table shows that the relationship f-stop/shutter speed: ISO 100 f16 at 1 / 100 sec sec. F11 at 1 / 200. + 1 stop f8 at 1 / 400 sec. + 2 stops from f5.6 to 1 / 800 sec. + 3 stops f4 @ 1 / 1600 sec. + 4 stops f2.8 @ 1 / 3200 sec. 5 stops the aperture controls the amount of light entering the lens. The shutter speed based on the ISO and f-stop, the controls the duration of the light admitted is allowed to expose our film or Digital sensor. As more light is admitted (f11 supports twice as f16, f8 supports twice of f11, etc) the time needed to expose our film or sensor decreases. So how do you get a slower shutter speed without changing the ISO? (Submit your Digital Slr Cameras have a low level of ISO 80. Some allow ISO 50, but most kept to a minimum of ISO 100). There are two ways: 1) Use circular polarizing filters. Usually, a loss of two stops with them. 2) Use a neutral density (ND). These usually come as 2X, 4X and 8X. A = 2X – 1 stop. A 4X = – 2 points. A 8X = – 3 stops 1/12.5. Lets apply this to the beginning of our industry chart. F45 @ ISO 100. – 3 points. 8X ND filter F32 to 1 / 25 sec. – 2 points. 4X ND, circular polarizing filter f22 @ 1 / 50 sec. – 1 stop. 2X ND filter f16 @ 1 / 100 sec. See above for f2.8 and f11 through! you know how to use a shutter speed slowly in the sunlight and still achieve proper exposure.
