Are they compatible with Nikon D40X?
I'm looking to buy a Camera Tripod for my father for his birthday, which is a Nikon D40X. I think either Optex OPT10 or Velbon CX 540. I want to know first if they adapt to the camera? and if anyone has recommendations?
First, it will be fine tuning. Almost all Cameras use exactly the same tripod thread, if you are good anyway. In terms of recommendations, if you're willing to carry it around with you, the heaviest tripod is better (in general). A heavy Tripod absorb vibrations better than a lighter one. This seems to favor the Velbon. However, a lightweight tripod is better than no tripod, and sometimes when people have a heavy tripod, they tend to leave home because of it. The answer is the "best" tripod is that you're ready to take with you anywhere. If neither tripods will go on tour, go with the heaviest. If your father is a hiker or backpacker, go with the lighter.
