How can I carry my camera on a canoe / camping trip?

My husband and I are going on a canoe / camping trip in April. I am concerned by many things when it comes to the safety of my camera and I'm looking for suggestions on a bag. We will be canoeing in the fast and I am worried about water. I love my camera and it is also what I do for a living so I can not afford to have ruined everything. In addition, embossing General of the dugout, and bring on a hike and stuff while carrying my backpack. Any suggestions on how to keep my camera away from all these elements or a bag to look nice? I tried to Kata and National Geographic, but I want to know I'm getting the best most versatile bag for my money. I forgot it's a Canon Rebel XTI DSLR if that makes a difference
