Can a Vivitar telephoto lens (500 mm) made for a 35mm Camera (Minolta) work on a Nikon Digital Slr?
The Minolta is an old model of 35 Mm (TRS 202) and I want to buy a Digital Camera, SLR, to be able to take birds / nature flower photos (And grandchildren play sports). I have the telescopic lens, but I was told it will not work with the latest equipment. (I inherited the camera and lens).
It does not work in a straight line on a Nikon body. There are adapters to convert between different media, but in the case of Nikon mount design, it is possible to produce converters Nikon organisms other manufacturer, but vice versa is not practical (you lose the ability to focus at infinity). Also you lose the most if not all of the automatic target (AF, in some cases exposure metering and actuation opening).
