Can you connect a MiniDV camera to the computer?
I have a Canon camera that takes MiniDV cassettes (the little ones who are really) and I heard that you can connect somehow to a computer and put these videos on your PC, you can, how? Any help is greatly appreciated! Ok, I do not have a firewire port, how can I add?
Provide the model number of your Camcorder would have helped. Even with a little more detail on your computer. ALL miniDV tape camcorder DV transfer function of the tape to the computer by connecting a FireWire cable (not USB) port from Dv Camcorder to the FireWire 400 port on the computer. If your computer does not have one, hopefully it has an expansion slot so you can add one. You also need a firewire cable. Firewire400, i.LINK, DV and IEEE1394a are all the same. Once connected properly and the firewire port is working properly, the camera needs to be in play mode or VCR. MovieMaker will capture video; iMovieHD will import the video. There are other publishers out there. If you are in the Windows Movie Maker and do tha video capture, try WinDV. Once the video file on the hard drive of your computer, drag the box of clips or timeline in the video editor.
