habit my computer recognize my Camcorder when connected via FireWire?

When I connect my Jvc Video Camera on my computer you do not like to find that something is plugged. is used for work and was able to get my video from DV tapes, but since a few i havent been able to meet. I bought new firewire card and installed it on my computer and I have a new cable. I have researched this and believe it is because my drivers are out of date? I tried to download several, but nothing has worked. Any ideas?

Try this: Go to Device Manager (Control Panel / System / Hardware) Expand the bus drivers IEEE 1394 host, right click on the device and uninstall it. If you are not there to begin with, you have a problem and shut down your PC. Connect the video camera, put it in the game and restart your PC. You should see messages coming up the card and then the camcorder are detected.
