What is the best model of Canon EOS Digital camera to buy to be compatible with my old Canon A1 lenses?
I have a series the Camera Lenses used iw / my Canon A1. I am planning to buy a newer model of Canon EOS Digital Cameras. I do w / c model would be best that I can use my contact lenses with an old Cannon.
Unfortunately, your A1 uses Canon FD lens mount. Canon has abandoned this mount lens EOS mount when they introduced their autofocus Cameras 35 mm in 1985. The EOS mount is used on all cameras Canon Digital Slr. However, Canon does offer an adapter to use the FD mount lenses mounted on EOS bodies. You should be able to find one at: http://www.keh.com http://www.adorama.com http://www.bhphotovideo.com It is also an adapter to allow use of the Minolta MC / MD mount to the Canon EOS mount bodies. (Minolta has also changed their lens mount in 1985 when they introduced their AF camera. The A-mount Minolta Maxxum 7000 is used by Sony Digital Slr Cameras today). Please remember that the use of these older lenses require placing manual focus and might "stop down" metering because there will be no contact between the lens and housing to enable automatic counting.
