Take, for sites that have methods rigorous testing, and qualitative impressions back to the methods of quantitative testing. They back up sample photos, and test firing of lifes with a 100% cultures, samples of standard colors, and graphics resolution tests, and quantitative numbers where they may. It the sign of a good Review. Dpreview (Digital Photography Review) is an excellent site that has strict technical. They maintain a rather strict (Although no one is entirely objective, sometimes they are more lenient on certain brands and harder on others). And they are more critical of the quality of the image someone else I saw. In fact, they go into such detail that sometimes I think the casual point-and-shoot would Frustration over nothing. But it is better to be more informed than under informed (or worse, misinformed). And they are experienced and well informed not only on imaging, but also on technology to support it. Imaging Resource has also fairly routine rigorous testing as well, and I respect their analysis. They are extremely detailed in their analysis, and test the full range of options for each Camera (ranging ISO, the flash range, precision optical Viewfinder, zoom settings) They do not make comparisons, but if you have to do the homework yourself when you visit their site. But you have all the detailed samples to make your own assessment. I agree, Cnet is focused too much on gadgets Wizbang, and are not equipped to make serious comments on the production of photography. They are not even in the picture. Steve's Digital Camera not that I go to for good reviews. This site is not rigorous, scientific, or criticisms at all. Basically, it is difficult to separate the good from tares at this site.
