I saved gift cards and money for Best Buy. I am eager to pass a Digital Slr. They have the Canon XS on sale today for $ 664.99 and the Nikon is $ 699. I went every two and can not choose. But that is not absolutely necessary, but may be useful to have if you want to take something at ground level. If you know that you will buy one of these cameras for sure, you can buy SD card (1 or 2 GB) and use it to try. They both use the SD card. Take pictures. You need to see how easy it is for you can use button. What could be easier for me, maybe not easy for you. This is the only way you can decide who is best. Do you have a vendor assistance while you do this, so they can point to features for you. And they know you're not trying to steal the map memory! My daughter got the XS for her birthday two months ago, and took some very good pictures with hers.
