Please recommend a camcorder ideal for shooting wild life video documentaries, or what features should I look?
I intend to make a documentary wildlife, please tell me what features should I look a video Camera or what model would you advise me as to make great closeups, slow motion and film such as videos, thanks
The Best Camera i can recommend both the experience using Cameras and film would be a Canon XL2, this unit is what I consider as a midrange unit in respect of professional cameras. If you want to do documentaries, good people, I have seen documentaries TV with this unit. The camera is equipped with a 20 x optical zoom (20 times closer than the way you see in the photo Viewfinder) which is more than capable of zooming in on distant objects, but it depends how you're away from the subject. The cost is dependent on where you buy it, but you should be able to get one for $ 6,000 New Zealand Dollar (approximately U.S. $ 3,000) If you're not after something like this Price, then you should look for a camera with a large optical zoom, Digital zoom should be avoided because the image quality is lost using this type of zoom swelling due to the image rather than using lenses to get physically closer, which is not optical. For example I have a Canon MV730i which has a 20 x optical zoom and did an excellent job, but nowhere near the quality of the XL2.
