Canon Powershot SD1100IS 8MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom Image Stabilization Forces http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011ZK6PC?ie=UTF8&tag=yahanswer-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0011ZK6PC: – 8-Megapixel CCD sensor with processor DigicIII (excellent resolution images with good dynamic range) – Solid construction (most of anodized aluminum body) – Feels solid and well balanced in the hands – Easy to use (logical user interface) with minimal need to consult your owner's manual for basic operation – Multiple shooting modes to accommodate various situations (action / sports mode is a glaring omission but read section below to see possibly why) – Advanced metering system with accurately exposed images, even in "tricky" situations (great balance lights and shadows) – Tack sharp images (much more with proper lighting and the use of flash) – Macro mode can result superb close-ups with an exceptional level of detail – Optical IS feature helpful when shooting in either the low light conditions or with flash telephoto lengths – Fast Start with an acceptable Shutter lag (when not using flash) – Bright 2.5 "LCD Monitor (100% coverage, 230k pixels) made of polysilicon, quite resistant to scratches (can not guarantee that this law applies to keys and coins currency) – Optical Viewfinder (though only a small window, it is essential when LCD glare and washout became a matter of shooting sunlight or when the screen can not be used as battery power is low) – Camera made in Japan (at least those of the first shipment, which can easily be subject to change) Limitations: – Lack of manual control over the aperture, shutter speed shutter, and focusing (For the obsessive control-freaks) – Noise is noticeable from ISO 400 (ISO 800, but probably still usable for only 4×6 images; ISO 1600 mostly unusable) – faster shutter speed is 1 / 1500 sec (not fast enough to stop the action of certain activities Sports) – Auto-focus speed inadequate to track fast moving subjects – Shutter lag accentuated with flash on (precious Canon moments lost while waiting for flash to recharge) – Can not adjust focus or optical zoom while recording in movie mode (focus is fixed for distance selected at first image and the digital zoom is permitted instead, resulting in a significant deterioration in picture quality) – / Cache memory the battery and the plastic hinge (no safety latch that must be disabled before sliding the lid on, to avoid opening accidental) – Minor vignetting and chromatic aberration (albeit, difficult not to wait for Compact p & s) – Pincushion and barrel distortion at the extreme focal lengths – No RAW shooting mode Battery In Camera mode with the LCD screen is mostly as advertised, allowing approximately 240 images. If your budget allows, I recommend investing in a few spare batteries as backups and replacing the memory card with 32 MB pair of 4 GB SDHC memory cards – vital purchases if you plan to use the video often means all. Even printing with serious limitations inherent to virtually all Digital Cameras in this class, I recommend the Canon Powershot SD1100IS. He does what he is supposed to do. This device camera can take great pictures in an ultra-compact, reliable and stylish which is both easy and fun to use.
