Is this mini DVD tape the best media for a Digital video camera?

I wonder if there are dropouts or objects with a system mini disc storage. I've never used one and wonder if it's worth it to make the investments. I have a Sony 3-chip digital video today and it seems that if I really want to keep some movies, I'd better put it on a DVD before the tape is too old and degraded video. Can I get a tiebreaker here please?

Mini-DV tape is the best choice … he the less compression, so it gives you more video data to work with. And do not think that the DVD will last forever. DVD-R and + R not last forever. The inks are not perfectly stable and they can become coaster few years in adverse conditions. The best way to keep the movie is put on two hard drives, then make copies of every 4 to 5 years. The sad thing is nothing digital lasts forever, but hard drives are consumers probably the wisest thing sustainable …. Also avoid most hard drives, smaller than 160 GB data pack less and less densely will therefore be less prone to leakage field between the data resulting from loss of data. To clarify …. I guess when you say mini DVD tape Are you referring to the MiniDV tape … media longevity would be as follows. Tape DVD HDD A hard drive will probably last longer than a band as long as you do not have the hard disk works all the time … A hard drive may have a life of 10 years in the non-continuous normal life … if you do not turn it on unless you go to access the data and did so on rare occasions, then the hard drive can last 20 years or more …. The most likely electronics in the drive to die long before the data on magnetic platters disappeared, even after training shit you could probably on the data from. A second band will start degrading as soon as you save your image. It will not be noticeable for several years, but it happens, go find an old VHS movie 10 years and it shows, you'll see the color begin to wash and that is because the strength of the magnetic data on the tape is deteriorating in a miniDV you do not wash the color in place because the image is digital, you will have more errors creep in the sequence and, optionally, error correction devices will be at a loss and you will see blocks appear randomly, beyond that you just a blue screen of nothing in random points. DVD-R and DVD + R Mini rely on special inks, they can last 10 or 20 years if you keep them in a environmentally controlled temperature and humidity …. but I saw them become coaster in one year. And the problem that you have the quality control plants that makes them not very good and bad in the lower right in some places … It will be worse some DVD brand are manufactured in factories themselves bad even if you stick to what you think is a good brand, there is no guarantee that it is not really cheapo factory …. And do not confuse DVD, burn yourself with those already purchased with movies on them, the two are not the same. Whatever you burn is not really set pits on a metal plate as the Hollywood version just by using a special ink which is not nearly as stable as a field magnetic tape or hard drive tray.
